Let’s start #15 (Reboot Edition): Miscellaneous changes

Major gameplay modifications (builders, economy & planes) for the Reboot Edition have already been detailed, but they are not the only ones: many other aspects of the game were also improved.

Unit reactivity

Unit’s acceleration & deceleration times have been improved. They are also less prone to moving in reverse mode, making U-Turns much faster.

All in all, units’ reaction time to orders has been cut in half, without loss in performances.

Combat

CIWS (vehicle-mounted or turrets) are now less effective all over the board.

Artillery damage have been toned down a bit.

MG Nests & Sentinels turrets are a bit less resilient.

Models facelift

Some of the US Army’s largest families of similar units have been “repackaged”, in order to make them easier to recognize and to project this faction more in the near-future like the others. Those are model changes, not new units, nor do their stats change

– All Humvees models were given a makeover, yet the Humvee Mk.19 variant was removed from the game.

– The Stryker family is the one which was modified the most. Of all the Strykers, only the AGM one will remain as it is.

  • The Stryker MGS will be replaced by the M8 Thunderbolt in the light tank role.
  • The Stryker MC with the prototype FCS Mortar.
  • The Stryker ICV with the ACCE as a troop transport.
Thunderbolt light tank (“vanilla” & TUSK upgrade)
ACCE troop transport (“vanilla” and TUSK upgrade)

– Finally, the F-35 Lightning, too close in shape from the F-22, will be replaced in the anti-tank role with the Avenger drone.

The same was done with Chimera buildings‘ models, several of them being remade to differentiate them more.

Also, the scale of all the units was increased.

Generic

A major simplifying pass was made regarding upgrades & researches. Some were merged together, other removed (most of the time actually given from the start with the unit).

At the same time, many units, researches or upgrades’ icons were remade to make them more understandable & more consistent throughout the factions.

Due to being made obsolete by other gameplay changes, some buildings were removed from the game:

  • US Army‘s FOB & LEM.
  • Cartel‘s Extension Module.

Solo Campaign

The solo campaign is unavailable in the Reboot Edition, the latter focusing on skirmish & multiplayer only.

“Artillery damage”, not “Artillery damages”. Seen a lot of French people make that mistake 🙂

Ooops, sorry I see it now. But I am interesting about size of the patch. I hope it will be max 1- 2 GB.

What about model unit changes in the Chimera faction? 🙂
It lacks long barrel tanks 😀
Isn’t the Russia with Chimera? Why no T-90s? 😀

Moreover, the ACCE transport doesn’t look very well, I mean, it’s a mix of post-apocalyptic and “not good taste” design…It makes me think about a “land-wheeled hovercraft” 😀

Anyway, great job with the Reboot! 🙂
Will the campaign – or a new one – be available in the future?

WIll there be new factions too?

Omg, who did build that thing? Its design is…unconstitutional 😀

Anyway ok, I got it! 😀

PS: Is there any Chimera unit from the Italy? xD

Damn…i wished the reboot would abandon the terminator as it’s obstructed and placed into a role it doesnt have in real life. it’s a support fire vehicle, not a vehicle for head on combat like an MBT, i’d always hated that in this game, there’s so much cool euro mbt’s to chose from, and chimera does not have any, its illogical. why no challenger, leopard 2, all but please put terminator into another role, it’s not an mbt, its technically the SAME as the puma in its combat role.

If their is something from every one why didn’t you choose the Leopard A2 ref 8 from Germany as the best tank in world for chimera? In tankbattles it’s deffenatly chimera which would retreat if the oponent carry anti missel Systems with them.

So we won’t be able to play any of the campaigns anymore? or campaigns will be available later in the future after more updates are added to the reboot edition.

Also, PLEASE tell me that you will add DirectX 12 support so that we can all achieve much better and higher performance and much better and higher quality gameplays in the game. Please add DirectX 12 support 🙂

But will the campaign be available in the future in the reboot edition? and also what do you mean “the option window at launch” during launch the game starts with an intro then the game goes the the main menu; furthermpre at settings then at video settings I can’t change my API to DirectX 12, I can only put it under DirectX 11. Did you guys already impliment DirectX 12 support in the reboot edition?

Ok thanks, but one last thing… as I said when you go under video settings, you can’t change the API to DirectX 12 and it is solely stuck under DirectX 11 and is unchangeable for other version of DirectX, this is also the case with both vanilla and reboot edition, I would like to know how to set it under DirectX 12, but if it is still unimplemented or unsupported than I would like to suggest and hope that the DirectX 12 support would be implemented.

Thank You so much for caring for the community; or us the players and fixing the flaws in the game for us the players to have a funner and better experience. I hope you guys get better results and get better feedback and get a higher & more positive rating on this game. Good Luck and once again THANK YOU 🙂

Thaaankkk yooouuu. I was a big AoW nerd back in the day and the over complications of the three resources in AoA made it rather un fun for me. This is a very pleasant surprise.

I don’t agree – One point that was often discussed: the identification of those small units.
Now they are clear to identify – I like this scale 🙂

this game need only a balance on USA units and myabe a unique resource. will be good a territory system. set one strategy point for 1 part of territory…more territory = more resources. this system guide players to defence a territory and game take more strategy. need too a veteran system for units and cover system for infantry.

Dear EUG Team, I would like to suggest a change in how units behave towards non-hostile buildings (E.g. Barracks, LEMs & etc.) — make them non-aggressive against such buildings. Because it is a hassle to lose an enemy building you are planning to capture due to not holding fire or moving offensive units away from their firing range. Thank you.

Thank you so much for listening to your players of the game. You did a great job. I really like the way you did the simplicity. Now players can concentrate more on fighting tactics instead of resource planning…

“The solo campaign is unavailable in the Reboot Edition, the latter focusing on skirmish & multiplayer only.”

And what about those of us who mainly bought this game for its solo campaign, ahead of PvE skirmishes (and certainly not PvP in any form)? Can we hope to see some changes introduced in solo as well? As far as I’m concerned, I’m one of these people and felt extremely disappointed by the campaign (notably the overall handling and difficulty). I was really looking forward to get this game which I hoped and expected to be a “Command & Conquer Generals 2”, but it wasn’t and as a result I gave up playing it after a few hours. A reviewed and overhauled campaign might certainly make try the game again and hopefully love it, but until then, I unfortunately consider I lost my money. Please consider this request, which I hope I’m not the only one to formulate.

Love the reboot version that makes me remind the excellent act of war.

    Some ideas for improvement:
    – Possibility to desactivate ressource building (ex: underground market / black market ) in game lobby (improve prisoners cature utility and make zone control more important. Don’t like the fact that the end of the game is conducted by how many ressource building you have, there were no ressource building in AOW and that was perfect, zone control was primary objective all along the game)
    – No rush rule option in game lobby.
    – Possibility to destry and repair bridges
    – Vehicule and soldier grades
    – Terminator vehicules have too much options and make other vehicules in that action near useless in second time.
    – A map editor can bring this game to a new level, plz let us use our creativity.
    – More realistic combats (ex: 4 soldiers with no bazooka vs a armored tank armed with a gatling should have no chance to survive, a helicopter taking a plane missile should crash…in that case add a helicopter landing option to avoid missiles…etc) Act of war was very realistic that way.
    – Plane bombing zone isn’t enough precice. Hard to see where bombs gonna fall sometimes.
